Woollam Waltzing Matilda Outback Art Show 2010

Judge Shirley Charlton from Brisbane, noted that the range of media and subjects made for a challenging judging task. She.congratulated artists on the quality of work selected for the exhibition, and encouraged the commitment of the Winton community in their support of the arts.

On display 22/02/2010 - 07/05/2010 Blackall artist Lindy Hardie presents 13 photographic prints on canvas in her exhibition Moments in time, on display in the Outback Regional Gallery Foyer.

Paper Paint and Canvas

On display 22/02/2010 - 07/05/2010 Paper paint and canvas, a solo exhibition by Queensland landscape artist Tony Walker, was officially opened at the Outback Regional Gallery on 26 February.

Generation Next Regional Youth Competition and Exhibition - 2009

On display 09/11/2009 - 19/02/2010

Nine young artists ranging in age from 15 to 25 years, presented works in three categories, Painting any medium, Drawing and Photography. Oil, acrylic & mixed media featured in Section 1, with drawings in charcoal, pencil and pastel in Section 2, and sepia and colour photography in Section 3. Entries came from Richmond down to Charleville, Longreach, Yaraka and Winton.

Local Artists' Exhibition

Trish Alcorn, Julie Andreasson, Louise Dean, Lorraine Entriken, Teresa Hasted, Frances Mitchell, Joanne Warren and Sash Whitehead show the variety of local arts practice, with textile, watercolour, pastel, charcoal, oil, leather and photographic works on display.

The subjects include a little bush church near Goondiwindi, playing cricket at Springvale Station in western Queensland, a gold fossicker on the Palmer in Cape York, fishing at Stradbroke Island, and a drover’s travelling mob along the Diamantina.

BHP Billiton Cannington Waltzing Matilda Photographic Competition and Exhibition - 2009

The award announcements for the BHP Billiton Waltzing Matilda Photographic Competition drew a large crowd of artists and supporters to the Gallery on Friday 11th September 2009. This competition, now in its thirteenth year, has become one of the best known photographic prizes in outback Australia. 86 entries from five States were hung, reflecting the competition theme ‘Image of the Outback’.

OPAL - Australia's National Gemstone Exhibition

This exhibition highlights the creations of award winning Australian and overseas jewellery designers and leading opal lapidaries. Among the Australian designers represented are Rey Gelbert, Susan Blennerhassett, Kevin Wong, Leon Parry, Robson Wong and Lucy Godoroja. They are joined by international jewellers Peter Baer from Hong Kong, and Sumihiro Rachi and Ryoei Sakuragawa from Japan.

Outback Spirit Ergon Energy Waltzing Matilda Art Show - 2009

The 2009 Awards Presentation evening was held at the Outback Regional Gallery in Winton on Sunday 3 May, in conjunction with the arrival of the Q150 Steam Train in Winton. Major sponsor, Ergon Energy, was represented by Paul Ryan, General Manager Operations Northern, North West Qld, who officially opened the exhibition and confirmed Ergon's commitment to the Winton community through their partnership in the Art Show.
